Portrait vol.4 1/2-White, Sonnar 135mm, Biometar 80mm, Telefogar 90mm, Jupiter-8 50mm etc

Digital Camera

I had a chance to take portraits, so I tried out various old lenses that I could sell literally.
We divided into 2 posts, mainly the depiction of whitish element with the middle telephoto lens, and the post that mainly made a wide-angle and blackish image adjustment.

Portrait with soft depiction of old lens

This time, I was able to try different lenses than ever before, so I think I can consider old lenses from various angles.

This time I shoot outside as well as indoors. so variation of photograph is richer than last time.

About lenses

Samyang 85mm F1.4

Samyang 85mm that appeared from the last portrait shooting.
Manual focusing, manual aperture, it is a specification like that of an old lens, and it is affordable for that amount, but the image is solid and easy to use.
I worked in a standard pull frame.

Carl Zeiss Jena Biometar 80mm F2.8

Although I got it a little while ago, I had hardly used it in the angle of view that was hard to bring out for town shooting, but I finally tried it a little.

Carl Zeiss Jena Sonnar 135mm F3.5

It is one of Carl Zeiss’s best-known ball that I think will no longer let go, but this is a bit darker on this blog because it is more difficult to shoot in town.
It work in portrait this time too.

Jupiter-8 Black 50mm F2.0

Medium Telephoto Jupiter-9 I feel that it is obscured by the shadow of 85mm, but this standard angle of view Jupiter-8 50mm is also pretty good.
Although it is 50 mm of the standard angle of view with a minimum distance of 100 mm and a little distance, not only city photography but also portraits made a good depiction.

Meyer-Optik Görlitz Telefogar 90mm F3.5

I bought this lens too. I tried just a little this time.
I’ve tried some of Meyer’s lenses so far, I think that they are good depction.

Samyang AS UMS 85mm F1.4

Honestly, I have as an insurance lens when shooting of the old lens did not go well.
I think it can be said that it is a lens of stable depiction.

The focus surface is moderately sharp without becoming hard, can be blurred sufficiently, and is a very stable depiction with a contrast that is not too strong.

There are many body depictions of eyelids this time,
The frame on the shoulder is easy to get closer.

I sometimes use this method to write photos with my PC or smartphone in such a way that it is easy to organize photos later.
Mistaken, out of focus…

Raw development

Raw development for Adobe Bridge CC 2017.
Only set “Whites” to 20,
I feel a little strong sunlight.

Carl Zeiss Jena Biometar 80mm F2.8

This is suddenly missed, but this is a soft-focused out-of-focus that seems to be a good idea.

As you can see from the comparison with Samyang, the sharpness is weak and the dark part (mainly hair) appears light.
In particular, the dark part is an expression of the old lens rather than halation.

I decided that there was no problem with this lightness, so I didn’t mess with Raw, so this is the default expression for this lens.

The impression is relatively sharp 50 years ago.
I tried a few this time, but I knew that there was a good atmosphere, so I would like to use it on another occasion.

Raw development

Although I adjust the overall brightness slightly with exposure, there is no other adjustment at all.
It can be said that it is a good lens.

Carl Zeiss Jena Sonnar 135mm F3.5

Sonnar is stable. A trusted Zeiss telephoto.
The softness of the focus surface and the sharp sharpness are perfect for portraits.

Maybe a little better contrast than Biometar.
There is no adjustment other than exposure. This is enough.

Sonnar’s double Gauss lens configuration has little distortion and less halation.
It may come out of focus and contrast stability.

This lens is close to the shoulder, so it has a variety of expressions, from whole body photography to improved facial expressions.

Raw development

This is also not adjusted at all.
You may want to add a little dark part, but I think that it is good to be pale for this shooting.

Jupiter-8 Black 50mm F2.0

The photo posted on the door was taken by a small but precise Russian lens Jupiter-8
There was an expectation that it could be shot somehow, but he showed us a portrait more than expected.

This time we have a little LED light on, but it shows the shadows of natural light with almost natural light.

In addition, the focus surface is delicate even though it is soft, and the skin is natural and soft.

The shortest shooting distance is 100cm, so this is a bit close to the picture, but I think that it is possible to create a good light condition as a result of being careful about the margins of the frame because it can not approach.

With a small lens and a small mount of Leica L39 mount, it is not bulky, lightweight and easy to carry, and you can release the shutter more and more with a light stance.

Raw development

This also raises the white level by +10 like Samyang.
It’s a nuance that only shines light.

Meyer-Optik Görlitz Telefogar 90mm F3.5

I came up with an idea in the midst of the sunset, and used Meyer-Optik’s Telefogar 90mm to shoot at the pedestrian crossing.

It was a lens with very little information, but I found it when I was fishing a medium telephoto lens for portraits. The M42 mount was rare, so I bought it with a momentum.
And this is the first shot.

The days were almost gone, but the conditions were difficult, but the blur was hardened with a strong contrast, giving me a tasteful atmosphere like Meyer.

I’m not sure because I’ve only taken a few photos, but I think that Meyer can’t really talk about it since 1958.

Raw development

This is a little overshadowed with -10, and the exposure is increased accordingly to lighten the whole. Furthermore, the face was brightened with a pinpoint.
The amount of light is not enough, and the light source is behind, so some adjustments are essential.

Still, you can see the tasteful atmosphere of the lens.
I would like to feature another lesser-known Meyer-opitik lens.
