Try Biotar 58mm with film! Biotar is sure to fit! in Harajuku Cat Street

Film Camera

From the experience of film so far, I feel that the lens of silver form is compatible with film camera. Perhaps I brought out that Biotar of this time could also be included.

Carl Zeiss Jena / Biotar 58mm F2.0 M42

Biotar of the ancestor is a famous lens that Helios copies from, specs and descriptions are similar.
However, it is also famous for its bad compatibility with the mount depending on the model, so it is also a lens that requires attention.
This mount is described later.

Today’s agenda

– Descriptions of Biotar 58mm
– Biotar 58mm and the city

Try shooting with the usual neighbors cat.
I was cautious.

Descriptions of Biotar 58mm

I thought about making a nostalgic atmosphere by opening the aperture but it seems that the exposure was a bit strong.
I like feeling toward saturation of the highlight part.

Oh! It is a feeling of sharp feeling.
It is a sharp feeling of Biotar felt with the digital camera.

This is also a good sharpness.
Focusing on the wall, it may be that the theme’s flower is actually blurred in reverse.

It is contrast between standard blur and subject, but texture may be like film.

I also feel a bit crisp, but I wondered if it fell well because I was blurred well.

When taking pictures inside the room, it is difficult to focus because the exposure is insufficient and the aperture is often close to opening.
Especially, it became clear that the lens which has the margin for the release value is more likely to be like this.

Biotar 58mm and the city

Harajuku station side of Cat Street who was not walking.
You may feel a bit relaxed as you approach the Jingu.

It is a contemporary style object, but there is a feeling of somewhat lonely and it is funny.

I think that it is interesting to be able to cut characters, rectangles and reflections of the city well for a while.
Well a little more. It seems to be established if something else can be found.

Light distant view

The slight distant view taken with Biotar is somewhat nice.

Is it a good balance of line and highlight?

Even if there is no exposure, it seems that it is reflected in the good taste.

The exposure was perfect for this place.

Is there also a good expression of the sense of distance with a field angle of 58mm?

The feeling of monotone is also good.

About mount problem

Carl Zeiss Jena / Biotar 58mm F2.0 M42

Mount incompatible Biotar

In the above-mentioned silver model of the previous term, there is considerable bias in compatibility with mounts, and infinity often does not come out.
The protrusion at the interface with the camera is a problem.

I checked with the actual machine of the digital camera, but it was okay with SONY E mount, FUJI X mount, Canon EF pin mount without mount.

Nonetheless, some SONY E mounts did not come out at infinity depending on the mount manufacturer. So it is suitable for advanced people as an old lens.

Biotar 58mm used this time

That’s why if you try Biotar, it’s easy to model with a pin behind the lens like the model in the picture above.

If you arrange two, you can see the difference big by looking big at the bottom cover.
Individually, it is difficult to understand the difference, so it is difficult to judge, so I can not recommend it for beginners.

What I thought this time

I wrote last time as well, but if you are a film, I do not know the taste and strength of the lens unless you see what it has raised, so I want to take another one.

film camera PRAKTICA MTL5

The camera is Praktica MTL 5 made by Pentacon, fourth generation in 1983.
It is in good condition. I will make it a main camera for a while.
Film is Fujifilm's standard ISO 100 36shots.
