It seems that painting style blur is similar to Xenon of the same Schneider, but from the balance’s perspective, Xenar is more soft and gentle. Xenon and Xenar are similar in name, but the appearance is completely different.

M42 mount Schneider Kreuznach Xenar 50mm f / 2.8

About 1958 years manufacturing, it is a pretty old generation housing and 10 diaphragm blades. I bought a lens in a good condition.

Mount

When it is a7, since the distance to the camera image pickup element is short, correspondence of the mount part of the adapter etc. is very flexible, and it is because of the fact that the old lens became popular.

So, if you buy a M42 → NEX (SONY E) conversion mount, it is recommended to have a macro helicoid.

When Flektogon was at infinity, I got a bit of a hit and it was not enough for the mirror to fall off, but this Xenar got a complete error so please be aware.

Shooting camera information

SONY a7

The camera is the first SONY a7, the image quality mode is RAW, the creative style at the time of shooting is “neutral”, but I think that it is only jpg to be reflected, so it does not matter.

It was the first time in half a year since I sold out lenses surprisingly for a7 II and M 42 mount at the end of last year.
I’d like to buy a7 II, but it is a residence of the lens swamp so much that I want to turn that amount to the lens.

The main reason for rebuilding is that the Xenar 50mm this time is Canon 5Dmark III and it mirrors the mirror.
Meyer ‘s Primagon who has not taken other town yet is also perfect.
Then, although I had been born until now, Flektogon also comes around at infinity.
I could not put up with that.

With this, “I thought it would be OK even if only a7?”, But since it was 5D all the time here, there was a sense of incongruity for shooting a bit.

I thought that it is easier to take a picture that comes after all.
I guess 5D should be taken a bit.

Raw development

Since development is currently in Photoshop CC 2017 and we want to leave the characteristics of the lens in the photograph, we only adjust the extent to make the brightness uniform by the exposure dose.
For comparative photographs etc., white balance may be the same.

Aperture

I am taking pictures while considering who fits in open F 2.8 and F 8.

Shutter speed

Because there are many outside days, depending on the strength and softness of the sun, about 1/200 to 1/1000, if you want to make a strong contrast, etc., you may take about 1 / 2,000 shots.

ISO

Because it is daytime, I often go about ISO 100 in case of opening, about ISO 2000 in case of squeezing.

Even so, thanks to the mirrorless monitor, the display that the exposure was calculated is appreciated.
It is saved because it is displayed even in the viewfinder with brightness properly added ISO.

White balance

There are many things that you are doing auto outside, but there are times when you fix a sunny weather day or a room with natural light.
Adjusting with manual Kelvin (K) is only when using a strobe etc. inside the room.
